US-based Fuel Tech has secured multiple contracts worth approximately $4.3m in China and the US for the supply of air pollution control equipment.
In the US, the company has secured a contract for a demonstration system using selective non-catalytic reduction (SNCR) technology. The company has also secured first commercial orders for Xcam extractive continuous ammonia monitor systems.
The company is expected to deliver the equipment for the contracts in the first and second quarters of 2014.
In China, Fuel Tech has secured a contract to supply its Ultra systems for two medium-sized coal-fired utility units which are being retrofitted with nitrogen oxide (NOx) reduction technology.
The company’s Ultra process provides on-site conversion of urea to ammonia for use as a reagent in the SCR of NOx.
Additionally, the company has secured contracts from several new and existing customers in China to supply its HERT High Energy Reagent Technology for several small coal-fired units and NOxOUT selective non-catalytic reduction (SNCR) systems for various industrial facilities.
The company has also secured a contract in China to supply a flue gas conditioning (FGC) system for a coal-fired power plant.
Using sulfur and urea as conditioning reagents, the FGC technology improves efficiency of electrostatic precipitators that are used to capture fly ash particulate from coal-fired boilers. The ammonia required for the FGC process is generated using Fuel Tech’s Ultra technology.
Fuel Tech has been awarded two contracts to supply Xcam extractive continuous ammonia monitor equipment.
Fuel Tech has engineered the Xcam system to measure ammonia concentration for SNCR and SCR applications. The Xcam system combines the accuracy and repeatability of a tunable diode laser measurement system with an extractive probe design.
