Wind turbine manufacturer Gamesa will supply turbines to upgrade Iberdrola’s Carland Cross wind farm in Cornwall, England.
Gamesa will deliver and install ten units of its 2MW G80 turbines to the project, which lies 10km north of Truro.
The new turbines will replace 15 existing turbines, specifically the WD24 models produced by Vestas, which each have a capacity of 0.4MW.
Iberdrola plans to disconnect this wind farm and reconnect it to the grid, following the €30m repowering project, at the end of 2012.
The wind farm’s 20MW installed capacity will enable Iberdrola to supply clean energy to more than 11,000 households in England and also reduce CO2 emissions of around 52,000t.
