Spanish giant Gamesa has won a turnkey construction order from Indian Tata Power for the 100MW Nimbagallu wind project in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
Under the contract, the firm will need to deliver and install 50 of its G97-2.0 MW class S turbines at the facility, which has been scheduled for a May 2017 commissioning.
Besides being responsible for installation of the turbines, the Spanish firm will be also be responsible for their long-term operations and maintenance (O&M) services.
The firm has been serving Indian markets since 2009 and has an installed capacity of around 2,270MW in the country.
Gamesa also stated their development of 1,435MW of Indian wind power projects.
Earlier in the month, the firm installed its first G114-2.0MW turbine in Asia-Pacific at the Subplu1 wind farm in Thailand.
The installation is a part of Gamesa’s agreement with Chinese developer PowerChina ZhongNan, for delivering 30 units of G114-2.0 MW turbines for three wind projects.
Under a separate initiative Gamesa has extended its €750m syndicated loan facility until 2021, from its former maturity date in 2019.
The firm has signed an agreement with a group of 16 Spanish and international financial institutions for the extension and improvement of the facility’s economic terms.
