Fossil fuel plant

Genscape, an energy information provider for commodity and financial markets, has expanded its real-time power generation platform coverage to include Slovakia.

The company announced that by the end of 2013 it will cover six of the eight major power plants over 100MW, totalling 5,095MW of the installed capacity in the country.

Genscape currently covers five major power plants, all eight cross-border strategic transmission points, 1,890MW of nuclear, 720MW of hydro and 735MW of pumped storage, and 430MW of gas plants.

By the end of summer 2013, Genscape plans to cover one additional power plant, 660MW of gas, 440MW of coal, and 220MW of mixed fuel.

Genscape Europe managing director Tedann Olsen said the company has expanded its network of energy monitors to provide accurate, real-time data to market participants.

"More recently we have focused our efforts on expanding coverage of Eastern Europe, which now includes much of Slovakia, Austria, Germany, Hungary and Poland," Olsen added.

Genscape said its Power RT platform enables market participants who are forecasts price, models, predicts output, or conducts other types of analysis to use the data to develop better trading and hedging strategies.
