GSE Systems has secured a contract to provide an engineering simulator for the B&W mPower small modular reactor (SMR) design being developed by Generation mPower.
The simulator will be used to validate the system designs for the plant, and to develop control and logic strategies.
Generation mPower is designing the reactor, which will be capable of supplying 160MW of clean, zero-emissions energy for four years without refuelling.
GSE CEO Jim Eberle said the flexible platform to be supplied by the company helps mitigate risk by allowing customers to verify and validate systems and processes at the design stage, when changes can be made more easily and cost-effectively than during plant construction.
