Welspun Renewables has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Germany-based iPLON to support 550MW of solar power generation in India.
Under the terms of the agreement, the software firm iPLON will supply, install and commission automation systems at upcoming solar photovoltaic (PV) power projects for Welspun Renewables in the country.
As well as the power plant automation system, the Indian firm will utilise iPLON’s plant analysis tools, telemetry systems and central monitoring systems for its projects.
The deal marks iPLON’s initial investment into the Indian market.
iPLON CEO Victor Thamburaj said: "Through this venture, we are making our first investment in India with our operations spreading across Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.
"We are effectively creating employment opportunities and skill sets in the domain of India’s renewable energy."

Welspun Renewables has recently signed multiple power purchase agreements with Indian states. It intends to turn 1GW of wind and solar power projects operational in the country within fiscal 2015.
