Isolux Corsan has won a turnkey contract from the Ministry of Electricity and Water for a high voltage power transmission line project in the town of Al-Rawdatain, Kuwait.
Under the 22-month contract, Isolux will be responsible for the engineering, procurement and construction services for 172km of 300kV transmission lines.
The company will carry out transmission and distribution works including the complete design of the towers and foundations, supply of all materials and accessories, civil works, tower erection, stringing and commissioning.
The $105m project, which will connect the Subiya power plant to several key regions and new cities in Kuwait, will be executed in three parts.
In the first part of the project, the company will construct 76km of transmission lines ( two 38km sections) to connect the ‘RDTN X’ substation with the existing 300kV double circuit transmission line between the power plant and the Jahra ‘X’ substation.
Under the second part, the company will energise ‘RDTN W’ substation by constructing 82km of transmission lines ( two 41km sections), which will be connected to the existing transmission line between the power plant and Saad Abdulla ‘W’ substation.
The last part will see Isolux developing another 14km of transmission lines to interconnect the ‘RDTN X’ and ‘RDTN W’ substations.
Isolux Corsan is currently executing various projects across the globe including a transmission line in the Amazon, where it has built 1,191km of transmission lines and six substations connecting Manaus with the electrical system in Brazil.
Additionally, it is developing Wind Energy Transmission Texas project in the US and is executing one of the world’s largest high-voltage projects in India.
