Photovoltaic cells manufacturer Hanwha Q Cells has signed an agreement to supply more than 1.5GW of solar modules with NextEra Energy Resources, to be used by the latter to drive solar energy portfolio in the US.
NextEra Energy Resources is a subsidiary of the US-based clean energy producer NextEra Energy.
Hanwha Q CELLS is expected to make the deliveries under the large-scale supply agreement within the last quarter of this year and by the end of 2016.
The firm will manufacture the modules at its automated production facilities in Malaysia and Korea and is the first company to commercialise multi c-Si PERC cell in mass production.
The products are equipped with Q.ANTUM cell architecture. They supercharge the ordinary crystalline cells to absorb more sunlight absorption, thus producing more power than other conventional modules.
Hanwha Q CELLS CEO Seong-woo Nam said: "This supply deal will enable Hanwha Q CELLS to become the market share leader among global manufacturers in two of the three world’s largest solar markets, the US and Japan."
NextEra Energy Resources president and CEO Armando Pimentel said: "We look forward to Hanwha Q CELLS delivering solar cells and modules that will provide reliability, efficiency and durability."
The supply agreement is in quick succession of Hanwha Q CELLS’ recent integration with Hanwha SolarOne, which has allowed the firm to have the largest solar cell manufacturing capacity worldwide.
