Renewable energy company, Reservoir Capital, has received approval from the Serbian Govenment for its Spatial Plan for Special Purposes, which will see the construction of the Brodarevo 1 and 2 hydroelectric projects and related infrastructure on the River Lim in the southwest of the country.
The scheme involves the construction of dams and power plants for the hydroelectric projects, two new sections of road between Mijoska and the Montenegro border and a new 110kV power line from Brodarevo to Sjenica.
Reservoir president and CEO, Miljana Vidovic, said: "This is an important step for the company and we are very pleased to have had our designs for the Brodarevo projects approved both locally and by the Serbian Government."
Brodarevo 1 covers the River Lim upstream of Brodarevo to the Montenegro border and has an installed power of 23MW capacity with an annual electricity generation of 87,960MWh.
Brodarevo 2, with a capacity of 25MW, covers the River Lim down-river of the town of Brodarevo, to the Bosnian (Serbian Republic) border.
The Commission of the Ministry of Spatial Planning approved Reservoir Capital’s documents and submitted them to the local governments of Prijepolje and Sjenica, where there was a 30-day period of public scrutiny from 29 December, 2011 to 27 January, 2012.
The Commission sat again on February 3, 2012 to review results of the local government and public scrutiny, before submitting the plan to the government for final approval, which has now been granted.
