Renewable energy developer SunEdison has agreed to construct and install three new utility-scale solar power plants in southern Utah, which will have a total installed capacity of approximately 262MW.
The three projects include 63MW Granite Mountain Solar West plant, 100MW Granite Mountain Solar East plant, and the 99MW Iron Springs Solar plant.
Construction on the three projects is schedules to begin in the fall of 2015, while commercial operations at the plants are expected to start in 2016.
SunEdison North America Utility and Global Wind executive vice-president Paul Gaynor said: "These solar power plants will create jobs and provide valuable tax revenue to the people of Utah. They are a testament to the contribution solar can make to our energy future.
"We thank our local partners in Beaver and Iron County for hosting these projects and we look forward to continued development in the state."
Asset management, monitoring and reporting services provider SunEdison Services will operate and maintain all the three solar power plants.
The clean electricity generated at the plants will be purchased by PacifiCorp under three 20-year power purchase agreements.
SunEdison intends to offer these projects to TerraForm Power for investment upon completion.
As well as the proposed projects, SunEdison has other solar projects in Utah which include 22.6MW Seven Sisters, 420MW Four Brothers, and 22MW of smaller projects.
