Global provider of photovoltaic (PV) modules, solutions, and services Trina Solar has delivered 8.8MW of PV modules to Citus Power for the Yahyali solarpower plant.
This plant was connected to the grid in August 2016 and is estimated to generate 12,500MWh of electricity annually, powering 2,000 homes in the region.
Approximately, 33,800 Trina Solar multi-crystalline 260W 60-cell Honey modules have been installed to power the plant, which is one of the 10 largest solar projects in Turkey.
Citus Power's business development director CihanKiykaç said: “In every step of these initiatives, our vision and aim is to work with partners who have a proven track record as being amongst the best in their profession. In line with this philosophy, we decided to work with Trina Solar on this significant solar project.
“Trina Solar’s renowned quality and module performance, as well as their leading position amongst the Tier 1 manufacturers, were key factors in our decision. Their financial strength also makes them a reliable partner for a long-term investment from a warranty point of view.”
The Yahyaliplant is located in Kayseri province in Central Anatolia and is spread across 40 acres of land, which has been developed by Citus Power.
Trina Solar's Turkey country manager DorukÖzülü said: “We are very happy to cooperate with the highly professional team of Citus Power for such a large-scale, groundbreaking project in Turkey’s developing solar market.
“We are grateful to Citus Power not only for selecting our modules, but also for a great team effort in bringing the project to fruition. Their local experience in commercial, technical and legal matters has been instrumental in helping us to supply our solar modules to the Turkish market more effectively.”
The solar project is financed by the TürkiyeFinans Participation Bank. Its planning phase started in late 2014, and Citus gained the approval from TEDAS (Turkey Electricity Distribution Company) in 2015. Citus Power has also assumed the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) role for the project.
