Swedish power company Vattenfall will invest €4.2bn in developing new wind power generation projects over the next five years.
Development consents have been received for a new onshore wind farm named Forst Briesnig in Germany and a 250MW Pen y Cymoedd wind energy project in Wales.
Vattenfall is planning to build a wind farm at Tamholt in Jutland, Denmark and has also received permits for a Beaufort wind farm in the Netherlands, which has a generation capacity of 340MW.
Vattenfall Renewables head Anders Dahl said wind power is a prioritised investment area for the company.
"Wind is one of our six energy sources and during the coming five years we will invest another €4.2bn in wind power projects in Sweden and in the rest of Europe," said Dahl.
Vattenfall will employ another 200 people to help deliver the projects.
Currently, Vattenfall operates 40 different offshore and onshore wind farms equipped with 900 wind power turbines which generate 3.7TWh, enough electricity enough to meet the power needs of one million households in the region.
