Vestas has been awarded a contract to deliver turbines totalling around 200MW for a US wind power project.
Located in Oklahoma, the undisclosed project will be equipped with 61 of Vestas’ V126-3.3MW turbines.
As well as delivering and commissioning the turbines, the firm has also signed an agreement to offer three-year Active Output Management (AOM) 5,000 service for those.
The service agreement involves an energy-based availability guarantee, which intends to ensure optimal operations of the wind turbines.
Vestas is expected to start delivery of the equipment in the second quarter of 2016, following which it has been scheduled to enter service within the second half of the year.
The deal is claimed to strengthen the presence of the Danish company’s 3MW platforms in the US market.
Vestas US and Canada sales and service division president Chris Brown said: "Historically, Oklahoma has been 2MW territory, but this order once again emphasises the versatility of our product portfolio and shows that we can draw from both our 2MW and 3MW platforms to select exactly the right turbine to meet our customers’ needs."
Vestas’ 3MW platforms feature five rotor variants, two nacelle configurations, multiple power modes, and 15 hub heights.
Besides offering favourable turbine configuration for each unique wind site, the platform maximises annual energy production (AEP) and optimises levelised cost of energy (LCOE), Vestas said.
