Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas Wind Systems has won a contract from Enel Green Power North America (EGP-NA) to supply wind turbines totalling 350MW.
Under the contract, Vestas will supply and commission 75xV100-2.0 MW turbines to the Origin wind power plant in Oklahoma.
The company is likely to deliver the wind turbines for the Origin plant in mid-2014 and the commissioning is expected by the end of the same year.
Vestas also has a firm order for 200MW as part of an agreement with EGP-NA for an additional 836MW worth of 2MW turbines.
Altogether, Vestas 350MW order will include supply and commissioning of the wind turbines from 2014 through 2015, as well as an active output management (AOM) 5000 service agreement.
The AOM 5000 full scope contract is an energy-based availability performance guarantee that ensures minimum lost production of the wind farm, and if the agreed threshold is unmet, liquidated damages are paid to cover the lost production.
In addition, the service option features the VestasOnline surveillance system that remotely controls and monitors the turbines and predicts potential wear-and-tear issues.
For the latest 350MW order, Vestas will manufacture the equipment at its factories in Colorado and is recruiting additional workers at three of its Colorado factories, including the blade factory in Windsor, as well as the blade and nacelle factories in Brighton.
The company is also expected to create many production jobs in the first half of 2014 primarily at the two blade factories in Windsor and Brighton.
