Yokogawa Saudi Arabia, a subsidiary unit of the Japanese Yokogawa Electric, has received orders to supply distributed control systems (DCS) for the PP13 and PP14 combined cycle power plants in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) is the developer for both the power projects.
Each of the PP13 and PP14 facilities is expected to generate 1,980MW of power, and will be equipped with CENTUM VP integrated production DCS.
The DCS will be used for monitoring, controlling, and continuing the operation of the gas turbines, heat recovery boilers (HRSGs), steam turbines, electric systems (IEC 61850*2), and plant operator training simulator (OTS) at the facility.
Yokogawa Saudi Arabia is expected to deliver the solutions within the first half of 2016.
Power Blocks 1 and 2 of the PP13 facility is expected to start commercial operations in May and October of 2016, respectively.
Commissioning of PP14’s two power blocks have been scheduled for November 2016 and April 2017.
The Riyadh PP12 project has a generation capacity of 2,175MW. The development is also a part of the company’s portfolio.
Yokogawa Saudi Arabia had received delivery orders in 2012, according to which, it will be offering a complete DCS and OTS solution for the facility.
