A geothermal district heating (DH) system has been granted a patent (Publication Number: US11905856B2) that includes a plurality of DH conduits, a fluid circuit for geothermal fluid, and at least two heat exchangers to transfer heat to DH-usable water without the need for supplemental fossil fuel waste heat. The system utilizes an Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) power plant with vaporizers and heat exchangers to efficiently raise the temperature of the DH-usable water and additional DH-usable water to a predetermined usable temperature. The system also includes means for delivering the additional DH-usable water through the DH conduits, ensuring efficient distribution to heat consumers.

Furthermore, the patent also covers a geothermal cogeneration system that includes a power-producing section with an ORC for power generation and a heat-producing section for heating a liquid in heat exchangers using geothermal fluid. The system is designed to efficiently produce power and heat without the need for supplemental fossil fuels. The patent details the configuration of the power-producing section with high-pressure and low-pressure turbines, as well as the heat exchange process with the geothermal fluid circuit. Additionally, the system includes a heat exchanger to condense the organic motive fluid and a recuperator to further heat the organic fluid using geothermal fluid, ensuring optimal efficiency in power and heat production.
