Description

The project is being developed by SSE. The project is co-owned by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners KS and SSE, with their respective ownership stake of 50% each.

The project is expected to generate 400GWh electricity and supply enough clean energy to power 100,000 households. The project is expected to offset 147,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.

The process of combustion will be adopted in this combined heat and power (CHP) project to release the stored energy from the feed. Industrial waste, municipal solid waste and wood by-product will be used as a feedstock to power the project.

The project consists of 1 turbine with 50MW nameplate capacity.

Development status

The project construction is expected to commence from 2021. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2024.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project will be sold to Axpo UK under a power purchase agreement for a period of 15 years.

Contractors involved

Hitachi Zosen Inova is expected to render engineering procurement construction services for the biopower project.

Hitachi Zosen Inova is expected to perform operations and maintenance for the project for a period of 25 years.
