La Yesca, Mexico

La Yesca is a 750MW hydro power project. It is located on Rio Grande de Santiago river/basin in Jalisco, Mexico. The project is currently active. It has been developed in single phase. The project construction commenced in 2008 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 2012.

The project was developed by Comision Federal de Electricidad and Empresas ICA SAB de CV. The project is currently owned by Comision Federal de Electricidad.

La Yesca is a reservoir based project. The hydro reservoir capacity is 1,329 million cubic meter. The project generated 1,210 GWh of electricity. The project cost is $767m.

Development Status

The project construction commenced in 2008 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 2012.

Contractors Involved

Power Machines was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 2 units of francis turbines, each with 375MW nameplate capacity.

Power Machines supplied 2 electric generators for the project.
