The project is currently owned by Latvenergo.

Plavinas is a run-of-river project. The hydro reservoir capacity is 509 million cubic meter. The gross head of the project is 40m. Plavinas underwent through rehabilitation & modernization during 1991-2001,2007-2010. The project generated 2,067 GWh of electricity.

The hydro power project consists of 8 turbines.

The project has 8 electric generators installed at the site. The generator capacity is 90 MVA.

Contractors Involved

GE Renewable Energy was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 2 units of francis turbines, each with 104MW nameplate capacity.
