Description

The project is being developed and currently owned by Druk Green Power and THDC India. The owners have 50% stake in the project respectively.

Bunakha is a reservoir based project. The hydro reservoir capacity is planned to be 211.3 million cubic meter. The gross head and net head of the project will be 164m and 141.62m respectively. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, is expected to be 3 in number. The penstock length will be 300m. The penstock diameter will be 3.5m. The project is expected to generate 893 GWh of electricity.

The hydro power project consists of 3 turbines, each with 60MW nameplate capacity.

The project will have 3 electric generators installed at the project site. The generator capacity is likely to be 66.67 MVA.

Development status

Post completion of the construction, the project is expected to get commissioned in 2024.
