Thaketa LNG Fired Power Plant, Myanmar

Thaketa LNG Fired Power Plant is a 477.1MW gas fired power project. It is located in Yangon, Myanmar. The project is currently active. It has been developed in single phase. Post completion of construction, the project got commissioned in June 2020.

The project is developed and owned by China National Technical Import & Export and VPower Group. The owners have 50% stake in the project respectively.

It is a Internal Combustion power plant. The fuel is procured from Petronas LNG Ltd.

The project cost is $360.24m.

Development Status

The project got commissioned in June 2020.

Power Purchase Agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Electric Power Generation Enterprise under a power purchase agreement. The power is sold at the rate of $0.12kWh for a period of 5 years, starting from 2020.

Contractors Involved

Rolls Royce Marine was selected as the engine supplier for the Gas fired project. The company supplied MTU 4000 model engines for the project.
