DNV GL has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with various stakeholders in Taiwan to jointly accelerate the development of the country’s offshore wind market.

The initiative is expected to help transfer knowledge and build technical cooperation for future offshore wind players in Taiwan.

The partnership will work on the testing and certification process under the guidance of Taiwan’s Bureau of Standards, Metrology, and Inspection.

The CR Classification Society, Electronics Testing Center Taiwan, Metal Industries Research & Development Centre, Taiwan Electronic Research and Testing Center, and Taiwan Institute of Economic Research are also involved in the partnership.

DNV GL Renewables Certification executive vice-president Kim Mørk said: “Local knowledge from our MoU partners combined with the broad experience in offshore wind from DNV GL, will help the industry to accelerate the country’s offshore wind targets and make offshore wind in Taiwan a reality soon.

“The partnership will work on the testing and certification process under the guidance of Taiwan’s Bureau of Standards.”

“As a certification body we have been involved in more than 75% of all offshore wind farms globally, giving us a comprehensive industry insight and knowledge based on experience from the world’s leading offshore wind markets.”
