GE Renewable Energy has secured a contract to supply, install and commission 121 sets of its onshore wind turbines. The contract will supply SB Energy’s Pritam Nagar wind farm, in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.
The 2.7-132 wind turbines, with a total capacity of 327MW, will have the potential to power 250,000 households in the country.

A GE spokesperson said the contract will be one of India’s single largest wind projects ever awarded.

SB Energy, a subsidiary of SoftBank Group, secured the project from Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) during the tranche-VI auction of wind projects.

By GlobalDataGE Renewable Energy’s technology centre in Bengaluru, Karnataka, will design wind turbines for the project.
The blades will be manufactured at the company’s plants located in Vadodara and Bengaluru, while assembly works are planned to be executed at its multi-modal manufacturing facility in Pune.
Last November, GE Renewable Energy signed an agreement with China Huaneng Group, a state-owned power generation company, to build a 715MW wind farm in Puyang, Henan Province.
GE was responsible for delivering 286 units of its 2.5-132 wind turbines along with 130m soft steel towers at the windfarm.
