Architecture and Engineering Occupations drive nuclear-related hiring activity
Architecture and Engineering Occupations, with a share of 18%, emerged as the top nuclear-related job roles within the power industry in Q2 2024, with new job postings rising by 26% quarter-on-quarter. Management Occupations came in second with a share of 11% in Q2 2024, with new job postings rising by 48% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent nuclear roles include Computer and Mathematical Occupations with a 7% share in Q2 2024, Business and Financial Operations Occupations with a 6% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in power industry accounted for 51% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q2 2024 were Westinghouse Electric Co, Idaho National Laboratory, Nuclear Fuel Services, Electricite de France, and Constellation Energy. Together they accounted for a combined share of 51% of all nuclear-related new jobs in the power industry.
Westinghouse Electric Co posted 823 nuclear-related new jobs in Q2 2024, Idaho National Laboratory 338 jobs, Nuclear Fuel Services 330 jobs, Electricite de France 275 jobs, and Constellation Energy 227 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 78.85% share of total new job postings, Q2 2024
The largest share of nuclear-related new job postings in the power industry in Q2 2024 was in the US with 78.85% followed by the UK (7.71%) and Canada (5.05%). The share represented by the US was five percentage points higher than the 73.65% share it accounted for in Q1 2024.
