Onshore was the top category in wind technology in terms of number of contracts for the month, accounting for 48 contracts and a 67.6% share, followed by Offshore with 23 contracts and a 32.4% share.

Looking at global power contracts activity divided by the type of technology, wind held the second position in terms of number of contracts during November 2020 with a 33% share.

The proportion of contracts by category in the Wind technology tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 34 contracts and a 47.9% share
  2. Power Purchase Agreement: 14 contracts and a 19.7% share
  3. Project Implementation: 12 contracts and a 16.9% share
  4. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: five contracts and a 7% share
  5. Consulting & Similar Services: five contracts and a 7% share
  6. Electricity Supply: one contract and a 1.4% share.

Europe leads wind contracts activity in November 2020

Comparing contracts activity in wind technology in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position with 41 contracts and a share of 57.7% during November 2020, followed by Asia-Pacific with 15 contracts and a 21.1% share and North America with eight contracts and an 11.3% share.

In fourth place was South and Central America with five contracts and a 7% share and in fifth place was Middle East and Africa with two contracts and a 2.8% share.

Wind technology contracts in November 2020: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of contracts in Wind technology for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Orsted (Denmark): 960MW from one contract
  2. Shell Energy Europe (United Kingdom) and SSE Energy Supply (United Kingdom): 480MW from one contract
  3. Trading Construction Works Organization: 350MW capacity from one contract.

Wind technology contracts in November 2020: Top winners by capacity

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Doggerbank Offshore Wind Farm Project one Projco (United Kingdom) and Doggerbank Offshore Wind Farm Project two Projco (United Kingdom): 1,920MW from three contracts
  2. SEPCO Electric Power Construction (China): 450MW from one contract
  3. China Gezhouba Group (China): 350MW capacity from one contract.
