Australia’s power industry registered a 14.1% drop in IT hiring activity in September 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 12.87% in September 2021 when compared with August 2021.

Out of the power industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 10.58% share in September 2021, recording a decrease of 3.77% over the last three-month average share.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 41.03% in September 2021, registering a 36% decline over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 30.77% share, an increase of 33.33% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 17.95%, registering a 250% rise from August 2021.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 7.69%, up 50% over the previous month.

Top five power companies in Australia’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 57.89% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s power industry during September 2021 over August 2021.

Snowy Hydro posted 13 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered a rise of 225% over the previous month, followed by CLP Holdings with 8 jobs and a 33.33% drop. Exelon with 4 IT jobs and Origin Energy with 3 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Iberdrola recorded a flat growth with 2 job postings during September 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 69.23%, down by 12.9% from August 2021. Mid Level positions with a 20.51% share, registered an increase of 100% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 10.26% share, down 50% over August 2021.
