Hungry Horse is a reservoir based project. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, are 4 in number. The penstock length is 137.16m. The penstock diameter is 4.115m. Hungry Horse underwent through rehabilitation & modernization during 1990-1993. The project generated 1,086.25 GWh of electricity.

The hydro power project consists of 4 turbines, each with 107MW nameplate capacity.
