Heavy-lift services provider ALE has completed the installation of Saudi Arabia’s first turbine at a windfarm in Huraymila, 80km north of Riyadh.
Beginning in January, the company was contracted for the transportation, erection and installation of the 2.75-120 wind turbine.

ALE Saudi Arabia branch general manager Andrew Spink said: “We are proud to be responsible for installing Saudi Arabia’s first wind turbine.
“This is a major milestone not only in the country’s renewable involvement, but also showcases our capabilities in offering the full TCI package to internally recognised standards.
“We can utilise the most effective equipment and the some of the most highly qualified technicians in the industry to come together and deliver this turnkey solution.”
After receiving wind turbine components from a vessel at the Jubail Industrial Port, ALE used a combination of conventional trailers and a blade trailer to transport them 600km to Huraymila. The blades are 60m-long.

By GlobalDataUpon arrival of the components on site, they were offloaded using the company’s crawler and mobile cranes.
ALE’s wind division was responsible for mechanical and electrical installation of the wind turbine into its final position.
The latest contract is the first of three renewables contracts for ALE, which is currently delivering equipment for two solar energy power plants.
