US-based construction company DCO Energy has appointed Evoqua Water Technologies to deliver equipment and services for a new $200m 50MW cogeneration plant for consumer goods company Procter & Gamble.

To be developed to the company’s Albany manufacturing unit in Georgia, the new plant will supply energy required to dry various paper products. Expected to be completed in the middle of next year, the plant will be named Albany Green Energy.

Evoqua’s industrial projects and services division president Rodney Aulick said: “This project will help our customer’s customer meet a commitment to operate on 100% renewable steam.

“We’re proud to be recognised for our expertise and customer commitment as part of an effort that will make generating energy a cleaner and more efficient process.”

“The plant will turn waste wood and agricultural products into 425,000lb per hour of process steam and 385,000MWh per year of electrical power.”

The Albany Green Energy project will be owned and operated by Exelon’s US subsidiary Constellation. Working for Procter & Gamble, the plant will turn waste wood and agricultural products into 425,000lb per hour of process steam and 385,000MWh per year of electrical power.

Evoqua has been appointed to deliver a boiler feedwater makeup system and a condensate polishing system for the operation.

The feedwater makeup system will be equipped with Evoqua’s Vantage PTI multimedia pre-treatment system, double-pass Vantage Membrane Series M286 Reverse Osmosis systems, VFD pumps, and ion exchange polishing resin using customised Evoqua FlexMate tanks.
