December 2021 has seen a decrease of 4.04% in the overall hiring activity when compared with November 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 13.27% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in December 2021, registering an increase of 2.01% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in December 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Middle East & Africa with a share of 72.22% in December 2021, a 31.58% drop over the previous month. Computer Support Specialists came in next, claiming a share of 16.67% in December 2021, marking a flat month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 5.56% in December 2021, a 75% drop from November 2021.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 38.46% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Middle East & Africa’s power industry during December 2021 over previous month.

Siemens posted 9 IT jobs in December 2021 and registered a decline of 18.18% over the previous month, followed by Schneider Electric with 4 jobs and a 300% growth. Vestas Wind Systems with 2 IT jobs and Enel with 2 jobs, recorded a 100% rise and a flat growth, respectively, while Enlight Renewable Energy recorded a flat growth with 1 job postings during December 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Middle East & Africa’s power industry

Egypt commanded a leading presence in the region’s power industry IT hiring activity with a 33.33% share in December 2021, a 14.29% decrease over November 2021. South Africa featured next with a 27.78% share, up 66.67% over the previous month. Namibia recorded a 16.67% share, a flat growth compared with November 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in December 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 77.78%, down by 12.5% from November 2021. Entry Level positions with a 22.22% share, registered a decline of 20% compared with the previous month.
