Toshiba has secured a contract to provide a flash steam turbine system and generator for the Kizildere III Geothermal power plant in Turkey by December.
The plant will be located in Kizildere, which is in the Aydin province of West Anatolia nearly 150km from the Aegean Sea. It will be built and operated by Zorlu Energy, an independent power producer and the member of Zorlu Energy Group.

Kizildere III has a total capacity of 95MW and is one of the largest plants in Europe and the Middle East. Installation is expected to start from December, with operations likely to begin in October 2017.
This plant will integrate a 72MW flash generation system, which operates using high pressure steam. It will also use a 23MW binary cycle power generation system, which will be driven by exhaust steam from the flash turbine, produced to make a working fluid with a lower boiling point.
It will be supplied by US-based Ormat Technologies, which is Toshiba’s partner in other geothermal projects under a strategic collaboration agreement (SCA) signed last October.
As per the estimates of the International Energy Agency (IEA), the demand for energy in Turkey is expected to double in the next ten years.

The power generation plants will be built at geothermal-rich Aegean Region, in the west of the country, Toshiba said in a statement.
