Renewable energy group EDF Energies Nouvelles has entered a partnership with Enbridge to develop, construct, and operate three windfarms with a total installed capacity of 1,400MW.
Under this agreement, the companies will co-own (50/50) Eolien Maritime France (EMF), which will control the developments once built.

The first of the projects is known as Eoliennes Offshore des Hautes Falaises. In 2012, it was awarded to EMF with an expected capacity of 498MW off the Fécamp coast.
The second farm Parc du Banc de Guérande is located near the Saint-Nazaire coast and has a projected capacity of 480MW.
Located off the Courseulles-sur- Mer coast, the Eoliennes Offshore du Calvados is the third project with an expected capacity of 450MW.
EDF Energies Nouvelles and Enbridge have successfully partnered since 2012 in Canada, where they operate four windfarms with a total installed capacity of 830MW.

EDF’s president and CEO Jean-Bernard Lévy said: "Our subsidiary EDF Energies Nouvelles and Enbridge will work together to drive the future of the French offshore industry.
"The vision we share in development strategy and the complementary nature of our combined expertise will be the foundation to a strong collaboration. These major future windfarms will provide our customers with a low-carbon, reliable, and decentralised energy.
"This is a fine example of what the Energy Transition for Green Growth law is trying to promote in France and it fits perfectly with CAP 2030, the strategy of the Group for the forthcoming years, which aims to double its renewable energy capacity by 2030."
