Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Korea Electric Power Corp (KEPCO) to collaborate on international wind projects.

Under the agreed terms, Doosan will supply windpower generators for projects won by KEPCO.

Doosan will also provide engineering, procurement and construction services for the windpower projects, reported BusinessKorea.

At present, Doosan is operating and building windpower plants totalling 207MW.

In December last year, KEPCO was awarded an order by Jordan’s National Electric Power Company to build an 89.1MW windpower plant in the Fujeij area in Amman.

The proposed investment will be used in development of energy efficiency businesses, installation of electric vehicles and energy storage systems, as well as renewable energy and windpower projects development.

KEPCO CEO Cho Hwan-eik was quoted by pulsenews.co.kr as saying: "We would drastically increase investment in the new energy sector to change fundamentals of the corporation.

"Besides the existing core businesses of thermal power and nuclear power, we would expand our foreign business to new energy business and we would achieve KRW20trn in overseas sales, 20% of the corporation’s total sales, by 2025."
