JA Solar has been selected as the sole supplier for an 86MW utility-scale solar farm in South Africa.
The Orange Solar Project is a part of the 4.5th round of the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPP) launched by the South African Government in 2011.

The company won the bid for the project along with local partners Solar Capital and Black Enterprise Empowerment.
JA Solar will supply its P310W multi-crystalline silicon modules for the solar facility.
Construction on the solar farm will begin in 2017, with plans for completion within the same year.

REIPPP will help the country to achieve its target of generating 3725MW electricity from renewable energy sources to ensure an uninterrupted supply of electricity.
The company has also secured a 100MW photovoltaic (PV) modules supply contract for the first of three large-scale, ground-mounted solar power plants in Zimbabwe.
The projects will have a combined installed capacity of 300MW and ZTE, and China MCC17 Group and Intratrek Zimbabwe as contractors.
