MHPS will carry out the delivery of the equipment through Daelim Industrial, which was chosen to provide engineering, procurement and construction services for the plant.

The company claims that its boilers are capable of using a variety of coal types as their fuel.

"When used with environmentally compatible burners, the boilers can generate highly efficient power generation while reducing NOx and CO2 emissions."

To be built in the municipality of Mauban, Quezon Province, the power plant will use subbituminous coal imported from Indonesia. It will run at pressures higher than that of a subcritical facility.

Philippines’ electric utility company Manila Electric Company (Meralco) will purchase the electricity generated at the plant, under a long-term power purchase agreement.

San Buenaventura Power has been set up as a joint venture between the Electricity Generating Public Company (EGCO) of Thailand and Meralco PowerGen Corporation.

It recently secured around PHP42.15bn ($893.1m) in loan from a consortium of local banks.

The consortium comprises BDO Unibank, China Banking, Metropolitan Bank & Trust, Philippine National Bank and Rizal Commercial Banking.

MHPS recently secured another order to supply ultra-supercritical-pressure boiler and flue gas desulfurisation system for a 1GW expansion project at an existing coal-fired power generation plant in Cirebon, Indonesia.

The high-efficiency power generation plant is scheduled to enter into service in June 2020.
