German conglomerate Siemens will supply and service power generation technology for the planned natural gas fired CPV Valley Energy Center at Wawayanda in New York, US.

The combined cycle power plant (CCPP) is expected to have a gross installed capacity of almost 675MW.

The facility is expected to be operational in 2017. It will have the capacity to meet the power requirements of more than 600,000 homes.

Siemens will deliver power island equipment for the CCPP, including two SGT6-5000F gas turbines, one SST-5000 steam turbine, and three SGen-1000A generators.

"The combined cycle power plant (CCPP) is expected to have a gross installed capacity of almost 675MW."

Under the terms of the contract, the German firm will also offer long-term service for the major components at the facility including its parts, outage services, programme management, engineering support and diagnostic monitoring.

Siemens’ Financial Services (SFS) division has committed $80m as a construction / term loan for the facility as well.

Siemens will manufacture the gas turbines and generators for the CCPP at its Charlotte Energy Hub, which serves as the firm’s global base for 60Hz power generating equipment.

Siemens Energy Solutions Americas senior executive vice-president Martin Tartibi said: "America’s energy revolution is accelerating the movement towards clean-burning, low-cost natural gas.

"As part of our partnership with CPV Valley Energy, Siemens’ expert technicians will provide service and maintenance that optimises the performance of the equipment and maximises the lifecycle of the plant."
