Spain-based renewable energy firm Gamesa has won a contract from Força Eólica do Brasil (FEB) to deliver 84MW of turbines for three Brazilian wind projects in Rio Grande do Norte.
Força Eólica do Brasil, a consortium formed by Iberdrola and Neoenergia, has placed the order for 42 of Gamesa’s G114 2MW turbines for the three wind energy facilities.

Under the deal, the Spanish company will supply, transport, install, and commission 15 turbines each for Santana 1 and Santana 2 wind projects.
The remaining 15 turbines will be installed at the Calango 6 plant, which is developed in the north-eastern state of Brazil.
The new G114 2MW model turbines are likely to yield more power at reduced cost at low and medium wind speed sites.
These turbines are particularly suitable for high-wind and low-turbulence conditions found in Brazil, Gamesa claimed.

By GlobalDataThe turbines will be manufactured at Gamesa’s Camacari factory in Brazil.
Delivery of the equipment is expected to be during the third quarter of 2016, while the wind projects are likely to be commissioned in the fourth quarter.
To date, Gamesa has signed firm orders for supplying 372MW of turbines to the Iberdrola-Neoenergia consortium.
At present, Iberdrola has almost 17 wind projects, having a combined capacity of 511MW in Brazil, which are either operational or are under development.
