Rehlko has entered into an exclusive agreement with Toyota Motor North America to supply hydrogen-powered fuel cell modules.

These modules are set to be integrated into Rehlko’s stationary power generator products, marking a notable collaboration between Rehlko’s energy solutions and Toyota’s established fuel cell technology.

The partnership was announced at the Advanced Clean Transportation Expo, highlighting Rehlko’s commitment to enhancing energy resilience and Toyota’s expertise in zero-emission fuel cell technology.

Toyota Hydrogen Solutions general manager Thibaut de Barros Conti said: “Toyota is excited to work with Rehlko on helping to build strong energy solutions using our proven, scalable fuel cell technology.

“Integrating Rehlko’s systems with Toyota’s fuel cell technology has the potential to yield cleaner, reliable and more sustainable energy that can scale based on the needs of customers and society and enable smart, energy-independent mobility for all.”

Rehlko’s integration of Toyota’s fuel cell technology aims to match the operational standards of conventional generators, offering a zero-emission solution for powering essential facilities.

The technology is particularly suited to data centres, warehouses and off-grid networks, providing protection against adverse weather and grid issues while only emitting water and air locally.

Rehlko Power Systems president Charles Hunsucker said: “The 1MW fuel cell generator represents a significant step forward in energy resilience for mission-critical customers. It delivers the same reliability but helps customers meet their resilience goals by cutting local emissions to zero. This cutting-edge technology is ready for orders today.”

The collaboration between Rehlko and Toyota first materialised with a 100kW hydrogen fuel cell power generation system at Klickitat Valley Health, reinforcing the hospital’s electrical infrastructure in rural Washington State.

Building on this success, the companies have engineered a commercialised 1MW system to cater to the increasing demand for larger-scale power solutions, with Rehlko developing the system and Toyota providing the fuel cell technology.
