
Three wind projects by Canada’s Innergex Renewable Energy, with a combined gross capacity of 560MW, have been selected in BC Hydro’s latest request for proposals (RFP) for new renewable energy generation.
The K2 project, the Nithi Mountain project and the Stewart Creek project are being co-developed with Indigenous partners.
Located in British Columbia’s (BC) central interior, 33km west of Peachland/Westbank, the 160MW K2 wind project is a joint venture between Westbank First Nation, holding a 51% equity stake, and Innergex with 49% interest.
The Nithi Mountain wind project, situated in the Bulkley-Nechako region of Northern BC, has a 200MW capacity and is developed in collaboration with Stellat’en First Nation (51% equity) and Innergex (49%).
The Stewart Creek wind project is a 200MW wind energy initiative in the Peace Region of Northeastern BC developed with the West Moberly First Nations (51% equity) and Innergex (49%).
The projects are scheduled to commence commercial operations between 2030 and 2031.
