Hassan Allam Utilities Energy Platform, along with Infinity Power, has signed agreements with Egypt’s Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy and the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company to develop two renewable energy projects in the country.  

The two clean energy projects would have a total capacity of 1,200MW of solar power and 720MWh of battery storage.

This marks the second project for Hassan Allam Utilities Energy in Egypt. 

Hassan Allam Utilities Energy Platform is a consortium of  Hassan Allam Utilities, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and Meridiam.  

These agreements help advance Egypt’s National Energy Strategy, as well as maximise the role of renewables in the national energy mix, decrease reliance on fossil fuels, and improve grid stability through advanced storage solutions. 

The consortium will build a 200MW solar power plant in Benban, with a 120MWh battery storage capacity. Its commercial operation is anticipated by the third quarter (Q3) of 2026.

Additionally, a 1,000MW solar power facility with 600MWh of storage capacity will be constructed in Minya, with commercial operation targeted for Q3 2027. 

These projects are set to play a key role in supporting Egypt’s aim to raise the share of renewables to 42% of the total energy mix by 2030 and 65% by 2040.  

Infinity Power is a renewable energy company in Africa, with its portfolio spanning solar, wind, and storage projects in Egypt, South Africa, and Senegal.  

It aims to have 10GW of operational capacity by 2030.

Hassan Allam Utilities Energy Platform currently has a portfolio of 2.3GW under development, which are scheduled to begin commercial operation in phases between Q3 2026 and Q3 2027, with a total investment of $2bn.  

It also has a pipeline of 1.65GW, comprising 350MW of solar and 1.3GW of wind projects, with an anticipated investment of $1.5bn.
