German wind turbine manufacturer ENERCON is planning to establish a rotor blade manufacturing facility for the E-175 EP5 E2 model in Bergama, Izmir Province, Türkiye, as part of its international market expansion.
The Bergama plant, currently under development, will produce up to 150 rotor blade sets annually, mainly for the Turkish market. It will also supply blades for wind farms in eastern and southern Europe.

Around 700 direct jobs are expected to be created at the facility, which will support further employment at local supply firms.
The new E-175 EP5 E2 model, featuring 7MW of capacity and a rotor diameter of 175m, is among the highest-yielding onshore turbines in Europe.
It is central to ENERCON’s market strategy, with strong international demand including recent contracts in Türkiye totalling more than 300MW.
ENERCON COO Heiko Juritz said: “Türkiye remains one of ENERCON’s most important international strategic target markets. Our investment in the manufacturing of E-175 EP5 E2 components is a further sign of our commitment to the Turkish market.
“We are there for our customers along the entire process chain – from production and sales through to installation and service – so that together we can further drive forward the expansion of onshore wind energy and the energy transition in Türkiye.”
To comply with local regulations and qualify for government tenders, a portion of wind turbine components must be manufactured domestically.
ENERCON, operating in Türkiye since the 1990s, has been an early advocate for local production in the wind power sector.
The company’s installed capacity in Türkiye totals approximately 4GW, supported by its local sales, project management and service teams.
In March last year, ENERCON, along with Salzgitter’s subsidiary Ilsenburger Grobblech and TMGROUP’s SMB Schönebecker Maschinenbau, collaborated to produce a lower-emissions steel tower for wind turbines.
