Toshiba America Energy Systems (TAES) has secured a contract from Middle River Power to perform work at the High Desert Power Project (HDPP) in Southern California, US.

The HDPP uses combined-cycle gas turbines (CCGT), consisting of three gas types and one steam type.

Under the long-term service agreement, TAES will be responsible for offering turnkey support of planned maintenance outages and engineering support at the High Desert Power Project.

Additionally, the company will provide services related to plant optimisation, parts, and scheduled and emergent technical support for High Desert Power Project’s 323MW Toshiba Steam Turbine and Generator.

TAES Thermal Services vice-president Lee Hietpas said: “We are fully committed to ongoing support of the entire Toshiba fleet, and thrilled to have negotiated this mutually beneficial agreement at High Desert.

“They have the technical expertise needed to help us ensure plant reliability and efficiency.”

The 12-year agreement came into effect this month.

Middle River Power Operations vice-president Claude Couvillion said: “There are many benefits to entering into this arrangement with Toshiba.

“They have the technical expertise needed to help us ensure plant reliability and efficiency, and as the OEM for the unit can also respond quickly to emergent needs, including the manufacturing and procurement of replacement parts.”

TAES is part of the Energy Systems & Solutions Company within Toshiba Corporation. It has a large manufacturing and service shop near Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and provides turbine/generator equipment and services for thermal, hydro and nuclear power plants.
