Description

The project was developed by Fortum and Standardkessel Baumgarte Holding. The project is currently owned by UAB Kauno kogeneracine jegaine.

The project generates 170GWh electricity thereby offsetting 65,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.

The process of combustion has been adopted in this combined heat and power (CHP) project to release the stored energy from the feed. Municipal solid waste is used as a feedstock to power the project.

Development status

The project got commissioned in November 2020.

Contractors involved

Standardkessel Baumgarte Holding supplied steam boiler for the project. The temperature witnessed inside the boiler is around 450°C. The steam is pressurized inside the boiler at 76bar.
