Description

The project is being developed by Avertas Energy and is currently owned by Acciona with a stake of 100%.

The project is expected to supply enough clean energy to power 50,000 households, to offset 400,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.

The process of combustion will be adopted in this combined heat and power (CHP) project to release the stored energy from the feed. Industrial waste and municipal solid waste will be used as a feedstock to power the project.

Development status

The project construction is expected to commence from 2018. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2025.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project will be sold to BOC under a power purchase agreement for a period of 5 years.

Contractors involved

Acciona and NRW Contracting are expected to render engineering procurement construction services for the biopower project.

Doosan Skoda Power will be the steam turbine supplier for the project. The company is expected to provide 1 unit of DST-G20 turbine with 45MW nameplate capacity. Doosan Skoda Power is expected to be the supplier of electric generators for the project.

Veolia Environnement is expected to perform operations and maintenance for the project for a period of 25 years.
