Description
The project was developed by Nam Theun 1 Power. Phonesack Group, EDL-Generation Public, Others, Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, JERA, Diamond Generating Asia and Kyuden International are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 60%, 15%, 12.65%, 6.35%, 3%, 1.5% and 1.5% respectively.
Nam Theun 1 is a reservoir based project. The hydro reservoir capacity is 3.009 million cubic meter. The gross head and net head of the project are 148.2m and 140m respectively. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, are 2 in number. The penstock length is 100m. The penstock diameter is 7m.
