Description

Saeul 2 is a Generation III+ nuclear reactor developed by Doosan Enerbility, the main contractor for the project.

The 1,491MW reactor is owned and operated by Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power. The company has a stake of 100%.

The PWR reactor generates 9,252.75GWh/annum of electricity. It features 241 fuel assemblies in the core of reactor, the place where fission occurs and energy is released.

Development status

The reactor construction commenced in Aug, 2009 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in Aug, 2019.

Contractors involved

Doosan Enerbility was selected as the steam turbine supplier for the nuclear reactor. Korea Engineering and Construction was selected as an architect engineer for the reactor. The reactor system was supplied by Doosan Enerbility. The reactor vessel has been supplied by Doosan Enerbility. The material used for the construction of the vessel is SA508, Grade 3, Class 1. The civil works were carried out by Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co Ltd, Doosan Enerbility Co Ltd and SK Engineering and Construction.
