Description

The project was developed by Shimonoseki Biomass Energy. Kyuden Mirai Energy, Nishinippon Plant Engineering and Construction and Kyushu Electric Power are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 85%, 9% and 6% respectively.

The project generates 500GWh electricity and supplies enough clean energy to power 140,000 households, offsetting 340,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.

The process of combustion has been adopted in this project to release the stored energy from the feed. Agricultural by-product and wood by-product are used as a feedstock to power the project.

The project got commissioned in February 2022.

Contractors involved

Nishinippon Plant Engineering and Construction was selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the biopower project.

Sumitomo Heavy Industries was selected as the steam turbine supplier for the project. The company provided 1 unit of Reheating System turbine with 74.98MW nameplate capacity.

Sumitomo Heavy Industries supplied steam boiler for the project.
