A recently filed patent (Publication Number: US20240039915A1) outlines a method for logging a user into a device for a power generation plant using a service gateway. The process involves authenticating the user on the service gateway, sending a device access request, comparing device secrets, and agreeing on a session key via an SRP protocol. Once the comparison is successful, the user can log into the device using the access device. Additional steps include transmitting the session key to the user's access device, allowing access to the device, and generating and storing device secrets during manufacture or software updates.

Furthermore, the patent describes the authentication process, which includes two-factor authentication and monitoring access requests within a given time period. The data connections between the access device, service gateway, and device are established using encrypted TLS connections for security. After successful login, the user can access historical data, read parameters, and modify power generation parameters based on historical data or received data from the device. The patent also includes a claim for a power generation plant comprising a device with a stored copy of a device secret, enabling user login via the SRP protocol upon successful comparison with a remotely stored copy of the device secret.
