Asia-Pacific witnessed a 12.5% rise in IT hiring activity in the power industry in January 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

January 2022 has seen an increase of 5.98% in the overall hiring activity when compared with December 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 21.52% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in January 2022, registering an increase of 1.03% over the last three-month average share.

 

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in January 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 78.84% in January 2022, a 52.81% rise over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 8.99% in January 2022, marking a 44.19% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 7.68% in January 2022, a 3.92% rise from December 2022.

Top five power companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in January 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 52.88% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s power industry during January 2022 over previous month.

Siemens posted 399 IT jobs in January 2022 and registered an increase of 52.87% over the previous month, followed by Schneider Electric with 62 jobs and a 3.33% growth. Snowy Hydro with 49 IT jobs and Senvion with 28 jobs, recorded a 133.33% rise and an 115.38% rise, respectively, while Clearway Energy recorded a 100% increase with 20 job postings during January 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s power industry

India commanded a leading presence in the region’s power industry IT hiring activity with a 67.68% share in January 2022, a 44.58% increase over December 2022. Australia featured next with an 11.01% share, up 58.33% over the previous month. China recorded a 7.1% share, a drop of 7.55% compared with December 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in January 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 54.93%, up by 57.26% from December 2022. Mid Level positions with a 31.59% share, registered a growth of 28.99% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 13.33% share, up 33.33% over December 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.14%, recording a month-on-month decline of 66.67%.
