The UK’s power industry registered a 6.4% rise in IT hiring activity in November 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 6.1% in November 2021 when compared with October 2021.

Out of the power industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 10.22% share in November 2021, recording an increase of 0.18% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the UK’s power industry’s IT recruitment activity in November 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 97.06% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s power industry in November 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 55.88% in November 2021, registering a 14% growth over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 16.67% share, an increase of 6.25% over the previous month.

3) Computer Support Specialists held a share of 9.8%, registering a 23.08% decline from October 2021.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 9.8%, up 42.86% over the previous month.

Top five power companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in November 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 37.5% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s power industry during November 2021 over October 2021.

National Grid posted 22 IT jobs in November 2021 and registered a rise of 29.41% over the previous month, followed by SSE with 20 jobs and a 100% growth. Siemens with 12 IT jobs and Iberdrola with 6 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 20% growth, respectively, while Elektro Eletricidade E Servicos recorded an increase of 50% with 6 job postings during November 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in November 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 61.76%, down by 11.27% from October 2021. Mid Level positions with a 22.55% share, registered an increase of 35.29% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 12.75% share, up 160% over October 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 2.94%, recording a month-on-month increase of 50%.
